B is for Bippa
An A to Z Book of Feelings (2 of 26)
A Note to Caregivers:
Bippa the Hippa is a character about waiting without shame. Hippos are powerful, grounded animals that spend much of their lives still—resting, floating, watching—moving only when the moment is right. Bippa reflects this natural rhythm. She is big, steady, and unhurried.
Bippa supports children who feel pressure to act or decide before they are ready. By showing waiting as a form of knowing—not avoidance—she helps normalize pauses and “not yet” moments as healthy and intentional. Her presence affirms that stillness and slowness can be sources of strength.
Together with Ao, Bippa expands the emotional vocabulary of Ao’s Ark. Where Ao helps children stay, Bippa helps them wait. Both remind caregivers and children that readiness cannot be forced—only supported.
